1. Commencer ici / Start here
In this first part of the exhibit,
I hope to introduce you to a little bit of my brain and perceptions about
the world.
Through this introduction of myself as the creator of this web-gallery, I wanted to
make the messages and information apparent by giving context as to my personal
involvment within the issues at hand.
2. Habiter le monde, c'est quoi?
This is an extension of
the first room which serves as a cooridor into telling the story
of the creator, illustrator and designer
of this web-gallery as a means to walk those who are wandering to find out how it feels to experience life through
through another's shoes.
3. Rechecher, c'est quoi?
As you continue your experience through another perspective, you will be introduced into
the beginnings of the research process that went into the desing and ultimate creation of the
project that you are currently experiencing.
Thus, in this section of the gallery, you will be able to witness and examine the sketches
and first questions that guided the research process as a whole. Not only this but the
ultimate role models that inspired me among other female students to continue their passion.
4. L'experience feminine en STEAM, c'est quoi?
Now that you have aquired the understandings of not only the author, but the guiding questions behind
the bulk of the research, it's time to begin thinking about more specifically the topic at hand which
is being discussed:
In her shoes : An examination of the female experience within STEAM (Science,
Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) and gender based divide that we see
in such fields today, as well as the biological and historical reasonings behind
its creation and intensification.
Through the statistical data analysis as well as more personal interviews with real women working
in the Computer Science, we can begin to understand better how the gender divide came into place,
and eventually how we as a society must change our perception of gender-based tasks all-together in
order for it to no longer serve as a a limiting factor in the decision process of one's career path or life.
5. Penser à la societé, c'est quoi?
In this particular part of the conversation and discussion at hand through visual and textual
artistic aids, we can begin to undertand that not only is the currect female experience in STEAM
subjects often limited by the imposing ideals and ideas of other, but that female-identifying
members of society and their experience is worth the discussion even today as it is still a
big part of society that, in the event that it changed, could allow for more accessibility and equity
among genders.
These ideals and impositions were often the product of certain historical facts that
will be further discussed and understood through the example of computer science.
6. Penser et agir en tant que femme, c'est quoi?
When identifying the reasonings behind the creation of the gender divided tasks that we see today,
it's important to first remember the historical reasonings behind it all but also the more permanent
biological reasons that may or may not have developed a certain way due to the traditionally female role
within a society.
We will, thus, examine the brain structure and compare and contrast the different pars of the brain
which often vary based off of gender and may or may not be linked to the ultimate success of the task at hand.
Did we evolve like this because of the environment being largely and traditionally partriarcal?
Will the workforce redistribute the gap of gender in some way and take action to better divide their
companies and corporations more equally.
7. Construire un avenir commun : comment ?
In this last and final section and ultimate culmination of the project, you will hear about the actions
that we must take as a society to result in a better distribution of jobs and tasks among those who deserve them.
In taking part in the actions and sharing of perspectives described within the manifesto and throughout
the project, you will be directly and indirectly aiding in the creation of a better future.
More specifically, you will be able to create a better future where all those groups of people who struggle to work
and live in the way they wish to and who are unable to do so because the society in which they inhabit.
Thus through the example of the feminine experience in STEAM fields, you will be able to aid not only
women but all those who's rights to equality and equity are not secured based off of the perception of difference.
8. The cafe and shop
After the visit feel free to take a minute to relax and look at the credits for all the information used throughout
the project. Check out the free souvenir shop with downloadable elements among other things.
Not only this, but there are pastable links which can be used to further distribute this project and
thus the messages related throughout.
